Back to Work!

I was out of the shop all last week attending a weaving course in the Puget Sound area of Washington.  It was a great time, and the weather was perfect (and look what I came back to - YUCK!).

Getting away was a long time in the making (hmmmm......I think it was 12 years since my husband and I have been out of town for more than a weekend.) and I loved every minute of my trip, was able to do some awesome weaving, but I'm also glad to be back!  There's no place like home, as they say.

And boxes were still pouring in while I was away.  I'm slowly working through them, but I'm making some good progress.  We've received lots of restocks of exising yarns, so our shelves are looking a little better since our Anniversary Sale.

We're also starting to get our Fall goodies in - and our order of the new spinning fiber from Malabrigo showed up and is out for you spinners to fondle!

Malabrigo Nube is 4 oz. braids of 100% Pure Merino Wool hand-dyed in some of the most popular Malabrigo colorways!

A few other things that I've managed to get out of the back room include these cute drawstring project bags:

And the latest special edition magazine from Interweave Knits, the Holiday Gifts issue is here as well:

Get out of the heat......we have the nice cool a/c going in the shop along with the ceiling fans!

Have a great Friday!

Friday, August 2, 2013

Whew....I don't know about you, but this week has been a rough one!  (Don't you love how nice things are when your computer is running......and don't you just want to cry when it isn't?  The shop computer decided it was in need of help yesterday, and after an entire day at the 'computer hospital', we are now back up and running and, most importantly, we didn't lose any data!  Whew!)

Now that it is Friday, I think it's time for a blog update with a pretty picture of a pretty yarn!
Let me introduce to you Araucania's Puelo!  Puelo is 100% Fine Pure Alpaca and oh, so soft!  This is a DK weight yarn with a recommended gauge of 5.75 stitches per inch on a US #6 needle.  There's great yardage in each hank with 240 squishable yards!  My plan for this yarn?  I'm thinking a Pagona.  Hmmm....wonder if I can get one done before my trip?

We also received some GREAT books -
I know that we've had Knit To Flatter mentioned before, but it really is a great book if you are a garment knitter.

If you have a daughter or granddaughter that has an American Girl Doll, then you might want to check out Knits For Dolls.

For anyone that has baby knitting to do, you have to page through Knitting Gifts for Baby

Another great book with fantastic, stylish patterns is Metropolitan Knits.

And as I mentioned in a previous post, we're getting our Fall Classes scheduled!  We just added another one to the schedule today:
Spring Foliage Mitts - Class starts August 29th.
Get the details for this class here!
