Winter Classes

Now that the holidays are almost over, it's easy to get a case of the "winter blahs".

Do you need something to keep you busy for the rest of the winter?

Why not take a class here at the shop?  We're getting our Winter Class schedule together and have some of our classes posted here

There's more coming, so keep checking back.

Restocking so you can stuff your Stocking!

Whew!  It a hustling and a bustling the last few weeks at the shop!  We've brought in new "gifty" items, and sold out of new "gifty" items!  We had a nice delivery of yarn bowls and Della Q Circular Needle Cases last week and sold out of them.

After a flurry of emails and phone calls, I'm happy to say that we received another order of yarn bowls
and another order of Della Q circular needle cases, as well as their Hanging Circular Needle Cases (I have one of these at home for home needle storage and I love it!  I have it hanging on the back of my craft room door and all of my circs are nicely organized and easy to find!)

For something to look forward to in the new year, Knit Purl Hunter will be doing another Knit-Along.  This one is a pair of toe-up socks with clues given out each week starting January 3rd.  The recommended yarn for this is HiKoo's CoBaSi (a blend of cotton/bamboo/silk/elastic).  Don't worry though, it doesn't knit like a cotton yarn - there is lots of "spring" to this yarn.  Details of the KAL can be found in our Ravelry Group.

It's WINTER Weather!

Are you all LOVING the snow that fell yesterday?  I always thought I wasn't a fan of winter weather, but I did not enjoy last winter at all.  I guess I like snow and cold weather after all!

I just wanted to post a note to let you know that if we need to close the shop due to bad weather, we will post on our blog page here, on our Facebook page, and in our Ravelry group.   (We were open yesterday - thank you Kristi for working on a snowy winter day!)

Keeping the Delivery Guys/Gals hoppin'!

Whew, it's been a good week with new arrivals!

A brand new yarn from Araucania arrived today also -
This is Nuble, a 75% extrafine merino/25% silk blend.  Each 50 gram hank has approx. 240 yards and has a recommended gauge of 7.5 stitches per inch on a US #4 needle.  So soft, and a nice sheen from the silk (but unfortunately, that doesn't come across in the photos).  This one is classified as a fingering weight yarn, but would be great for a lace project too!

Beautiful Hand-Thrown Yarn Bowls

Are you stumped on what to get for your favorite knitter on your list (or for yourself)?

We just received a big box of hand-thrown yarn bowls!

This is just a sampling of the bowls that we have in stock - they are nice and deep to hold that beautiful ball of yarn while you knit up your project!

Fresh Arrivals....In the Nick of Time!

Many of you have been excited upon hearing that ChiaoGoo has Interchangeable Needle Sets with their Red Lace tips and cords.  We've been filling our "Wait List" as the Complete kits (includes needle tips in US #2 through US #15, cords, end caps, locking pins, stitch markers, the fabric case and more) have been arriving in the shop.

We now have the ChiaoGoo Twist Red Lace Interchangeable Needle Set in the Small set available as well! What's the difference between the Complete and the Small?  The Small set has the same great case, 3 sets of cords to make a 24, 32 and 40" needle, the end caps, locking pins, stitch markers, etc., but comes with the 5" needle tips in US #2 through US #8.
If you are looking for a great interchangeable needle set, this would be a great item to place on your Wish List!

December is the time of year that people are quickly knitting up smaller sized projects like hats, mittens, cowls, scarves, and more for giving as gifts to their loved ones.  We have a new yarn in the shop called SimpliWorsted by HiKoo in 20 different colors that would be perfect for some of these projects.  SimpliWorsted has a fiber content of 55% Superwash Merino, 28% Acrylic and 17% Nylon.  Each hank has 140 yards, and it is nice and soft.....sure to feel soft to even the pickiest of people on your knit-list.  As an added bonus, it's also machine washable, so you don't have to worry about having your gift accidentally felted by the recipient!

For the small gauge knitters, we have some stunning new colors in Ella Rae's Lace Merino yarn.  This is a light fingering weight yarn with a fiber content of 100% Merino and would be absolutely beautiful in a shawl, scarf, or anything calling for a fingering weight or lace weight yarn.

I probably don't need to remind you that we are in Super Holiday Knitting Mode, right?
