I'm a big fan of Dream In Color yarns.  I've had them in the shop almost since we opened the doors.

I love their rich colors, I love how they dye their yarns, I love their yarn bases......I could go on.

I also love their Classy yarn for baby projects and recommend this yarn quite often.  It's soft, again - the colors are spectacular, and it's machine washable.

And now we have kits available for this darling baby sweater!

They are made up in colorways for boy/unisex or girls with enough yarn to make up to an 18 month size sweater.

Seriously, aren't they cute?  If you have any baby knitting to do in the near future, you might want to come in and pick one of these up.  Just add needles and you'll be knitting up a fantastic little sweater that will be sure to be a big hit!

New Yarn Time!

With the start of the State Fair today, it's time to admit that summer is winding down.  And that means that the new Fall/Winter yarns are starting to arrive in the shop!  YAY!  (I love me some brand new fall yarns!)

Let me introduce to you a few new yarns from Berroco.

Berroco Elements is new this fall, and if you want some shimmer and shine in your knitting, this is one to definitely come in and take a look at.  Photos can not do this one justice.  This fiber is a little different from what we normally see with a shimmering nylon mesh enclosing the soft wool which allows the fibers to peek through and create a gentle halo of color.  It's a blend of wool and nylon, and knits up to a recommended gauge of 4.5 stitches per inch on a US #9 needle.

Berroco Lodge is another new yarn for Fall.  Lodge has longer color transitions which are punctuated with vibrant tweed flecks.  It's a nice, lofty wool blend that is spun into a single ply and works up quickly into fun stripes.

If you're a Norah Gaughan fan, you'll be happy to know that the new Norah Gaughan booklet from Berroco is in too, along with the pattern booklets that feature Elements and Lodge too.

Knitting Season!

Fall is right around the corner and that means the return of what I call "Knitting Season".

There's nothing better than pulling out your yarn and needles, settling in on the couch after a long day of work and relaxing with a fun knitting project.

With the return of Fall and knitting season brings us the return of a full load of Knitting Classes too!

We've got all sorts of classes scheduled, from some great sweaters (we're offering the Rocky Coast Cardigan again
along with the ever popular Owl Sweater), to several different sock classes, and much, much more.

For those of you that have never knit before, we have a great Learn To Knit Class on the schedule.  You'll end up with a beautiful hat or cowl (your choice) when you're done.

Sign up in person at the shop, online, or by phone.....but give us a call if you have any questions on any of our class offerings.  We're here to help (and to help you build your skills and confidence in your knitting.)!

Weaving - Perfect for Fall Scarves

It's hard to believe, but the cooler, crisp Fall weather will be here before you know it (Cant' wait!).  We'll be hurrying up to get some scarves knit up.

Did you know that you can crank out scarves in a hurry when you weave?  Sign up for our Weaving 101 class (starts in September), and have a houndstooth scarf completely finished by the end of the second class!    You'll learn how easy (and fast) it is to warp your loom, and how easy (and fast) it is to weave!  After completing your first scarf, you'll be dreaming of all sorts of scarves to make with the loom - from a basic scarf to a plaid (shown above) to a lacey scarf, and more.

We have loom rentals available for those of you that want to get your feet wet with weaving but don't own a loom.........yet!
