More New Titles

More new books have arrived at the shop -

From Rowan is Seascapes -
This book features patterns designed by Martin Storey.  There are very attractive patterns for men and women in textured patterns as well as colorwork.

From Interweave Press, we have The Knitter's Handy Book of Top-Down Sweaters by Ann Budd.

Like Ann's other "Handy" books, these feature multiple gauge and multiple size patterns for sweaters knit top down.  This is a great reference book for customizing sweaters to fit, or to design your own, but there are also 12 complete patterns in the book also.

HOT Weather Projects

Baby, it's HOT outside.  Are you all as tired of this heat as I am?  I can handle a few days, but this is getting to the ridiculous stage.  (I really feel for people that have to work outdoors in this heat).

Since most of us are hanging out inside quite a bit this summer, why not cast on for a pair of socks in some fun summertime colorways?  (Socks are small enough that you don't have a big old piece of knitted fabric laying across your lap in this heat!)

This is the Austermann Step Holiday collection and we have just received this fun collection (all 12 colorways) today!

Friday the 13th = A Good Day!

It's Friday the 13th (queue the horror film music), but it's a good day at Knitter's Palette because we received a great box of Tanis Fiber Arts yarn!

This is her Blue Label yarn (fingering weight blend of 80% superwash wool/20%).  Think shawls, scarves, socks, fingerless gloves, baby items, and more.  We've got her nice, bright "Tanis" colors, as well as some great neutrals in this batch too.

This would be PERFECT for the Color Affection Shawl that everyone is knitting right now (hmmmm.....I might be picking out colors for my 3rd shawl), as well as the Westknits Mystery Shawl that starts today.  Plus, it just so happens that we're knitting the Mystery Shawl as a shop Knit Along too which makes it even that much more fun!  Join us in our Ravelry group here.

Good Gradients & a Fun Visitor!

Right now, I'm all about the gradients!  I love spinning fiber and keeping the long color repeats intact.  (I'll be honest, I'm not a huge fan of barber-poling handspun yarns).

I love knitting with gradient yarns too, so I was really happy when I saw that Schoppel Wolle (the same company behind the Zauberball yarns) was introducing a heavier weight gradient for Fall -
This is Schoppel Wolle Gradient yarn.  It is 100 grams and approximately 284 yards.  The yarn is 100% virgin merino wool and is a single ply yarn, but it's slightly felted, so it will resist pilling.

I've cast on for a Zuzu's Petals cowl and I'm really enjoying knitting with this one!  I can't wait until I get to the green and blue colors in the ball!

And, for a little while, we have another Monster visiting the shop!
Laura left her Joris behind (I'm not sure if she forgot it when she was visiting, or if she meant to have it in the shop for a while), and I have him on display in the store.  HE IS ADORABLE AND HUGE!!!!  The pattern actually calls for a fingering weight yarn, but she made hers out of a super bulky Noro yarn called Hitsuji.  Even though I've already knit the small version, looking at this cute guy, I might have to cast on another.

I've been waiting for this delivery for some time and I'm so excited that it's here!
Each Limited edition Soakbox contains a bottle of Soak wash, Soak Handmaid hand cream, a custom hand-dyed hank of yarn from Lorna's Laces and a matching premium fingernail polish, along with a great fingerless glove pattern from Fiona Ellis!

Independence Day!

I just wanted to post a quick blog update to remind everyone that the shop will be closed on Wednesday, July 4th.

We'll reopen on Thursday at noon (our normal Thursday summer hours).

Don't forget, Open Knitting/Spinning is now on Thursday evening too!  Why not get out of the heat and join us for some knitting and spinning at the shop?

Have a safe and fun Fourth, everyone!
