In all the Holiday Rush.....

In all the rushing around in this busy holiday season, I forgot to mention that a new yarn from Malabrigo arrived!

We now have Arroyos in stock! If you are a fan of Malabrigo Rios, this is much the same but in a sport/dk weight. 100% superwash merino, and fabulous colors.

Can I just say - MmmmmmmmmMalabrigo!!!

Holiday Hours Reminder

I just wanted to remind everyone that we will be closed both Christmas Eve Day and Christmas Day.

We're open until 8 pm tonight and will be open from 10 am to 5 pm on Friday so there's still time to run in and pick out yarn, needles, knitting bags/pouches, gift cards and whatever else you need for the favorite knitter on your list (and that includes yourself!).

Time Management!

At this point in the game, it's all about time management to make sure you get everything done before the holidays.

I'm working my way through my Christmas knitting list and am feeling pretty confident that I can get all of my projects done.

If you still have some knitting to do, why not knit up a great pair of fingerless mitts? You can get a pair done out of one skein of Noro Kureyon (we're very well stocked in this yarn), and they knit up pretty quickly. Plus the pattern (Maine Morning Mitts) is a free pattern.

Crafty for the Smaller Crowd!

Do you have a younger one on your holiday list that likes working on crafts?

Why not start them on some easy weaving projects?

We have the Potholder Looms back in stock again for the holiday season along with bags of "Lots of Loops" to keep them weaving for quite some time! The looms are made from heavy-duty coated metal (rust free and no sharp corners). The recommended age for these are 6 and up, but an even younger child could use this with a little help from someone.

Do Books Fit In Stockings?

Do books fit in stockings? If not, they'll definitely fit under the tree!

We just received two new ones from Interweave Press -

-Folk Solks by Nancy Bush. This is a REVISED issue of an old favorite for the sock knitters.

-Textured Stitches by Connie Chang Chinchio. This book has knitted sweaters and accessories with great details.

The Alpaca are Chunky!

Misti Alpaca Chunky yarn is a favorite this time of year. Alpaca is super soft, and super warm, and since this is a chunky yarn, it knits up in a hurry! Quite simply, it's the perfect yarn for some quick knitting!

We're all stocked up with lots of colors to choose from - as of this post, we have 12 solid/heathered colors and 5 handpainted. Add in some free patterns such as the Ribs & Ruffle Scarf pattern or the Cabled Neck Wrap, and you'll knock some of the names off of your Holiday Gift List in no time!

Ho Ho Ho Hurry!!!

YIKES! Have you all looked at the calendar lately? Do you realize that the holidays are fast approaching? How's the project list going?

Maybe it was the fresh snow over the weekend which makes it feel more like the holiday season, or maybe reality finally hit, but I just realized, I HAVE LOTS OF KNITTING TO DO!

In the next week or two (because, really, that's all the time that we have left), I'll start posting links to some holiday and/or gift knitting patterns to help inspire you. Conveniently, these might also be links to some of the items that I'm making for gifts too!

First up is a free pattern for some Christmas Stockings from Cascade Yarns. These stockings use Cascade 220, and while they might not be a one-day project, I know that quite a few of us have some Cascade 220 in our stash at home. Add a skein or two of a neutral color such as white or cream, and you'll have a beautiful stocking.

(Note to self: Must make several of these for the family, but I'll start in July for next year!)
