It's starting to look like Fall....

It's starting to look like Fall....at least here in the shop, because our Fall orders are starting to arrive!

We received a new self patterning sock yarn from Regia called Blitz Color. We've got 12 different colorways in stock that stripe up in a fun design.

Another new yarn that arrived yesterday is Aventica from SMC. This is a soft blend of 65% Acrylic, 25% Wool, and 10% Poly in graduating colorways. The yarn is easy care and can be machine washed on gentle cycle and we currently have 6 different colorways to choose from.

In addition to this great yarn, we also have a new pattern book that goes along with it which has great sweaters and vests for children as well as THE MOST ADORABLE animals to knit up!

I hope to have these all in the online shopping section in the next few days, but for the local folks, they're all out on the shelves.

Dreamy Dream In Color!

I'm a huge fan of Dream In Color yarns. I've always had a huge fondness for the colors, the way that the yarns are dyed, the yarn bases that they use, how they knit up.....the list can go on and on.

Today we received their Fire Scorched colorways in Smooshy (their sock yarn), Starry (sock yarn with silver), and Classy (their worsted weight yarn).

One word......STUNNING!

Today we received something entirely new to the shop - and they can be used for both spinning and knitting!

We're talking Hand-Dyed Silk Hankies!

What are silk hankies?

They are individual silk cocoons that have been opened up and spread onto a square frame. The bundles contain layers and layers of cocoons that can be separated into very thin sheets of silk.

What do you do with silk hankies?

Well, for starters, you can use them for spinning. You separate the layers and then stretch a hole in the center. You continue stretching until you create a large loop in the thickness that you want, break open the loop and then spin.

But....you can also knit with them without having to spin them up! You use the exact same method as above but without the spinning portion and just knit!

We have a mitten class on our class schedule that will use the silk hankies.

We're starting to post the classes now, so check them out here! (More to come, though!)

Soak'ing Good!

We're loaded up with SOAK wool wash with a new delivery that arrived yesterday! Now is a great time to get those sweaters, scarves, mittens, and hats washed before the cold weather arrives (and right now, cold weather would feel fantastic, but I digress.....).

And for those handknit socks that you have, we also have a restock of HEEL from Soak. HEEL is an awesome foot cream to keep your feet nice and soft, and don't your handknit socks deserve this?
