Trekking KAL

To celebrate 20 years of Trekking yarn, Skacel is running a monthly Knit-Along using different Trekking yarns. Each month, a different yarn and pattern will be introduced.

January's project is a toe-up sock using Trekking XXL in the Susanne colorway. We just received our order of this yarn today!

This KAL is a great way to improve your knitting skills and have some great "Finished Objects" at the end! Oh, and there are prizes too!

The KAL instructions can be found here.

The contest entry form and detailed information can be found here.

And for those of you on Ravelry, there is a group here.

We have a limited amount of the yarn, so let me know if you are interested.

February's yarn is here too and will be some fingerless gloves!

New Wheel Coming Soon!

There’s been rumors flying around for a while that Schacht was designing a travel wheel, and if you know anything about Schacht - they are quality products and when they introduce something new to the market, they tend to not repeat the “been there, done that” philosophy.

Without further ado, Schacht has introduced the Sidekick, which will be available late Spring. (May shipdates are what has been anounced as of today).

They have yet to announce the pricing, but the consensus is that it should be priced between the Ladybug and the Matchless.

Here’s the specs on this little wheel:

•Folds to 21 1/2” x 15” x 8 1/4”.
•Integrated storage of bobbins, flyer, and whorls for transport.
•Lightweight at 13 pounds.
•13 3/4” drive wheel allows for ratios from 4.25 to 15.25.
•Long, comfortable treadles.
•Uses the same bobbins, whorls, and flyer as the Schacht Matchless and Ladybug wheels.
•The Sidekick can be purchased without the bobbin-flyer assembly.
•25” orifice height for comfortable spinning.
•Employs Scotch tension with precise control knob.
•The drive wheel spins on ball bearings. The flyer turns on self-aligning bearings.
•Drive band tension adjuster allows for all whorls to be used with one drive band.

The Sidekick comes with 3 bobbins, 2 whorls, threading hook, and adjustable carrying strap.
There’s also a bulky plyer flyer package that can be added at any time.

The more I look at the wheel and see video of this wheel in action, the more I love it!!!

We've got a few of the Schacht Sidekicks coming into the shop and will take names for pre-orders.
EXCITED!
