Kromski!

Knitter's Palette is now a dealer for Kromski Spinning Wheels!

We received our first shipment of wheels in the shop yesterday!!!!

Our initial order consists of:

The Fantasia -

The Fantasia is the newest wheel from Kromski. A departure from the "traditional" look of their other wheels, this is a nice alternative for those that are looking for a more modern looking wheel.

Double Treadle, Single Drive with Scotch Tension. Attached Lazy Kate with 3 bobbins. Whorls are "easy change".

The Sonata -

A full size spinning wheel that folds up and fits into a nice padded case (included) for travel or storage.

Double Treadle, Single Drive with Scotch Tension. Attached Lazy Kate and 3 bobbins.

And the Kromski Minstrel in Mahogany Finish. (Still currently being assembled! Will post photos in the next few days, but suffice it to say that it is BEAUTIFUL!).

Double Treadle, Double Drive (but can be set up with Single Drive, Scotch Tension too). As with the other wheels, there is an attached Lazy Kate and 3 bobbins included.

Please stop in soon to test drive our new wheels!

Plump It Up!

I hope everyone had a great weekend! The weather seemed pretty nice - it was warm but not too humid. After hearing what the temperature and humidity is supposed to be tomorrow though (mid 90s with high humidity - yuck!), I am ready for the cooler weather of Fall.

And speaking of Fall, it's time to post more of the New Arrivals from Berroco!

This fall/winter season, Berroco has "plumped up" some of their yarns that were introduced last year - namely Vintage and Blackstone Tweed.

We now have Vintage Chunky and Blackstone Tweed Chunky!

Vintage Chunky is a blend of 50% Acrylic, 40% Wool and 10% Nylon with 130 yards in each 100 gram hank. The recommended knitting gauge is 3.5 stitches per inch on a US #10 needle. Still nice and soft, still machine washable - overall, just a chunkier version of Vintage! Nice booklet of patterns available for both Vintage and Vintage Chunky too!

Blackstone Tweed Chunky is a blend of 65% Wool, 25% Superkid Mohair and 10% Angora with 60 yards per 50 gram skein. The recommended gauge on this yarn is 3.25 stitches per inch on a US #10.5 needle. Nice, soft hand with great pattern support too!

Time for another!

Today's new yarn from Berroco is Borealis.
Borealis is a blend of 60% Acrylic and 40% Wool with 108 yards per 100 gram hank. The recommended gauge is 3 stitches per inch on a US #11 needle. Berroco's describes this yarn as a "Unique dying processes result in shimmering prismatic colorways to entertain your eye. Quick knitting and silky soft, Borealis is a joy to knit and wear." I think they are right! The colors are spectacular!

Of course, we also have the Berroco booklet (Berroco #300) that goes along with this yarn. Check out the unique hat on the cover!

Berroco Campus

One of the new yarns from Berroco is Campus. Campus is a blend of 50% Wool, 40% Acrylic, and 10% Alpaca. Each 100 gram hank has 130 yards and the recommended gauge for this yarn is 3 stitches per inch on a US #10.5 needle.

The yarn reminds me of a handspun with a touch of a thick and thin quality. This one has beautiful color combinations, fun color names (Coffee Run, All Nighter, and more!) and a great pattern collection in the #301 Berroco Campus booklet. If you are looking for a quick knit, check out the nice big cowl on the cover of the book - this is an easy and fast project that would be great for gift giving!

Smooshy! It just has such a happy sound, doesn't it?

It's also a great fingering weight yarn too! Perfect for socks and shawls and.....

We just received another order! This latest order is 11 of their newest colorways - only one skein of each though. This batch contains their semi-solids, which would be perfect for patterned socks or a nice lacey shawlette!
