Winter Ravelympics!

I just wanted to take a moment to offer up my congrats to all that participated in the Ravelympics*! It was fun to see all the different projects (events) that everyone was working on. They were truly inspiring!

If you were a member of Team Knitter's Palette, don't forget to post the photos on Ravelry, so we can ooohhh and ahhhhh over your work (finished or not!).

Next up - the Tour de Fleece! I CAN'T WAIT!!!!

*For those not familiar with the Ravelympics, you picked a project that was somewhat challenging to you (whether it was finishing your WIPs, knitting an entire sweater, etc.) and cast-on during the Opening Ceremonies. The goal was to complete your project by the Closing Ceremonies.

Oh Claudia!

Today's new arrival is a nice big box of Claudia's Hand Painted Yarns in Fingering (aka wonderful sock yarn!).

Claudia's is wonderful for socks, of course, but I've made a great pair of Hedgerow Mitts using it, and have picked out some great color combinations for the Daybreak Shawl! (Did I tell you how much I'm loving the little shawlettes this season? I think I'm on #5 or 6 so far!)

(Above are Ravelry links. If you aren't familiar with Ravelry, sign up at! Lots of information available to you, and don't forget to join our group "Friends of Knitter's Palette Yarn Shop" too!)

More Marvelous Mmmmmmalabrigo! Mmmmmm!!!

One of our favorite yarns here at the shop is Malabrigo (or better known as Mmmmmmalabrigo!)

With the spring and summer season coming soon (I hope!), we're stocking up on more Malabrigo Lace.

We're all in love with the shawlettes this season. Even though I think I've knit 5 or 6 of them this winter, my next project will be Citron using Malabrigo Lace (after I finish my Ravelympics project, that is! Go Team Knitter's Palette!).

We also received more Malabrigo Worsted in this shipment too!

Look for more Lace, Sock and their new yarn to arrive soon!

More Book Titles!

Even though it's snowing like crazy out there, Mr. UPS managed to make our almost daily delivery!

Today's delivery was a big old box of books. Most are restocks of some of our favorite titles, but this delivery did include a new one for the shop......

Sock Club by Charlene Schurch and Beth Parrott. This book contains 23 patterns from sock clubs everywhere, and will appeal to knitters of all skill levels.

If you are a sock knitter, this is definitely one that you'll want to pick up to add to your knitting library. (A copy will be going home with me too!)

Speaking of sock knitting, if you are a sock knitter, then you probably have lots of left over sock yarn in your stash.

We now have CiD Hanscom's (a local designer) book, Balloon Tying Creations to help you use up some of those extra bits of sock yarn in a cute, whimsical way! The pattern pocket contains 10 pattern cards with tying instructions to create your own sock yarn creations!

You can never have too much fiber!

Yep, you guessed it! Another shipment of fiber arrived at the shop on Friday!

This one is a blend of Merino and Silk (80/20) from Ashford. Simply nummy blended colors which will make a nice super soft, heathered yarn! We received HUGE BUMPS in about 7 different colorways - seriously, they look like your holding a swaddled baby when you carry them!

Another UPS Kind of Day

Yesterday brought us a few more new arrivals into the shop.....

One of the boxes contained a nice stack of Knitting Traditions magazine. This is a special issue put out by Piecework Magazine.

The rest of the boxes contained various sock yarns! We have a resupply of Lorna's Laces Shepherd Sock, some Trekking XXL and more Jojoland Melody Superwash!

For our spinners, we did receive 2 bundles of Lorna's Laces Shepherd Wool Top (this is the Superwash stuff!) in some nice "manly" type colors.

Look for more fiber arriving today - Merino/Silk from Ashford this time.

And now something for the Spinners!

Today's New Arrivals is a mountain of Mountain Colors Targhee Top!

The colors are a sight to see during the cloudy grey winter days here in Minnesota and Targhee is wonderful to spin! Nice crimp and staple length for a nice springy yarn!

I dusted off one of my wheels over the weekend and did a few hours of spinning. Now I have Spinning Fever!
